Lynda Louise Biddy, 85, of Greensboro, N.C., and most recently Gloucester, Va., passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023 surrounded by her niece, Lori Drake and Lori’s family.
Born on January 22, 1938, in St. Leo’s Catholic Hospital, which was the first major hospital in Greensboro, she was the daughter of the late Arthur S. Biddy and Jennie Horney Biddy.
She is survived by two loving sisters, Mary Eugenia Biddy Smith (Geni) and Susan Gayle Biddy Hoppough; nieces, Lori Alberty Drake, who cared for her lovingly the last two years of her life, Jennie Alberty Reichstetter, Janice (JJ) Jensen Kornman and Kelly Jensen Neel; nine great-nieces and nephews also survive her. She loved her nieces as her own, and the feelings were reciprocated. Lynda was fortunate enough to have four-legged children, whom she loved dearly, named “Lyon,” “KitKat,” “Buffin,” and “Brie.”
She graduated from Greensboro Senior High and went on to graduate from The Woman’s College, now UNCG, with a major in Psychology. Lynda worked for a year after graduating in the Greensboro College library.
Lynda’s bold side bloomed as she moved with classmates to New York City and remained there until she retired, after 33 years working for the city. She joined the NYC Union and became the secretary of the organization, making us realize she was no longer the shy sister!
Lynda loved books of all kinds, decorative sewing, classical and jazz music, scrapbooking, and family. She also was in the scouting program and joined the Daughters of the American Revolution while in Greensboro.
Assisting with her daily activities were two dear friends, Will and Hank Meadows. Hank kept her yard immaculately trimmed even after she moved to Virginia. And, Will drove her anywhere she wanted to go for years. Thanks, Hank and Will!
Lynda was not only blessed by the care given her by niece Lori Drake and family, but also the local hospice at Riverside Walter Reed Hospice. As a family we cannot say what a blessing this organization was to both Lynda and all our family.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, 7358 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061, 757-594-2745.
