Lydia Belle Sterling Hall, 62, Gloucester, died May 30, 2014 in Charlottesville, Va., with her family and friends beside her.
Lydia was a graduate of Gloucester High School and received her nursing degree from Riverside School of Nursing. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Severn Church, working tirelessly for her church in any capacity she was needed. Lydia worked as an RN at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital for many years. She took great pride in her nursing care, her friends and her family. She cared for all her patients just as if they were family.
Lydia was a loving person who never met a stranger. She loved to laugh and make others laugh and most of all she loved her family. Lydia devoted her life to helping others in any way she could. She will be extremely missed by all who knew her and in some way, she touched every life she came in contact with.
Lydia was preceded in death by her father, John Allen Sterling, and brother, Allen Sterling.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, C. Wilbur Hall; daughter, Becky Hall Smith; mother, Sadie P. Sterling Williams; granddaughter, Jordan Smith; brother, Kenneth Sterling and wife Kay; sister, Beth Sterling Barry and husband Ed, as well as numerous other family, and special friends.
A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Severn Church, 9066 Robins Neck Road. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Monday, June 2, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
