The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society is preparing for two large events: the dedication and grand opening of the Dunton Library for Genealogy and History at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, and its 9th annual Oyster Roast on November 9.
The Dunton Library, 8346 Mary Ball Road, honors Ammon G. Dunton, Jr. for longtime support of community history preservation, a release said. The library renovates the former home of Catherine Chilton in a research center. It replaces a smaller building across the street.
