Lucia “C.C.” Hollerith Lefferts died Dec. 22, 2011. A memorial service was held in Connecticut on Jan. 7, 2012. Interment will take place in the Memorial Garden at Ware Episcopal Church in Gloucester, Va., on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. Assisting in the ceremony will be C.C.’s two nephews, the Right Rev. Herman Hollerith IV and the Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith.
After graduating as an Art Major from Connecticut College for Women in 1947, C.C. served as Medical Artist under Dr. C. Everett Koop at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. C.C. was a true Renaissance woman, an accomplished artist, photographer, videographer, and computer “techie.” She produced ads for local businesses, ran the AV Department at Darien High School, and produced numerous segments of Darien Dateline on public access TV. She lent her creativity to countless organizations over the years including the Mathews Historical Society. She also enjoyed sailing.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gillet; four children, Robert of Portland, Ore., John of Sutton, Mass., Sally of Rowayton, Conn., David of New Canaan, Conn.; 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Helena “Boo” Gillet Lefferts.
