Lottie Sterling Smith, 67, of Hayes, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Sentara Williamsburg Medical Center.

Lottie was a member of Severn Church and previously worked for Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. 

She enjoyed meeting and talking with the tourists who came to Williamsburg. She loved shopping with her grandchildren and she was always willing to help others. Lottie will be missed by her family and friends.

Lottie was a daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Sterling and was also preceded in death by her husband, William M. Smith, and sister, Vivian M. Sterling.

She is survived by her children, Margaret Knuutila (Wayne), Richard M. Smith, Teresa A. Green (Michael) and William E. Smith; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at Severn Church, 9066 Robins Neck Road, Gloucester, Va. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 2-3 at the church.
