Loraine Blount Carey peacefully departed this life on October 13, 2023, at home in Waldorf, Md. She was born in Smithfield, Va., to the late Marcus B. and Lelia J. Blount on October 5, 1939. She taught science in the Williamsburg-James City County and Newport News School Systems. Loraine was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, William P. Carey. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kimberly C. Williams, Esq., and U.S. Army Colonel Brian S. Carey (Sara); granddaughters, Maya Loraine Williams and Briar Naeve Carey; siblings, Harriet Yvonne Carter and Marcus Bethney Blount II (Brenda); nephews, Marcus Wade Blount (Tanya) and Lawrence Quincy Marshall (Amy); and grand-nephew, Jared Leo Blount.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 11 a.m. at The First United Baptist Church Cemetery in Gloucester, Va.
