Local COVID-19 cases increase slightly

COVID-19 cases only raised slightly in local communities this past week.
Gloucester reported 55 new cases this past week for a total of 8,521 cases over all time. The county also recorded one new death attributed to the disease for a total of 109 since the pandemic began.
Mathews recorded 10 new cases this past week for a total of 1,765 cases and no new deaths. Middlesex reported 13 new cases this week for a grand total of 2,206 cases over the course of the pandemic. No new deaths were recorded.
The Three Rivers Health District as a whole recorded 207 new Covid cases this past week for a total of 31,768 cases since the pandemic began. The district also recorded two new hospitalizations for a total of 780 hospitalizations since the pandemic began and two new deaths for a total of 443 deaths.
Statewide, Virginia recorded 14,124 new Covid cases this past week, reaching a total of 2,054,230 cases since March 2020.
