Gloucester resident Doug Williams, a baseball historian and author, will be joining former Major League Baseball catcher Hank Foiles, former MLB pitcher Jim Coates, and minor league baseball executive Dave Rosenfield at the Williamsburg Film Festival next month.
The four men will be at the festival March 7-9 at the Holiday Inn Patriot on Richmond Road in Williamsburg.
Williams said the group, minus Rosenfield, was contacted before last year’s festival about helping introduce an exhibit on baseball in the 1950s and ’60s to go along with the festival’s other nostalgic displays.
"They contacted us a couple of months ago and asked us to do it again," Williams said. "Hank and Jim were definitely in favor of it because they enjoyed it so much last year."
Rosenfield served as general manager of the Tidewater (now Norfolk) Tides from 1963 until 2011, when he stepped away from the day-to-day operations of the team to become a vice president and senior advisor to club...
