Local anglers report multiple citation catches

Big red drum, big sheepshead, and big speckled trout headline this week’s list of citation winners in the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament. Fresh citation awards are posted weekly in vasaltwaterjournal.com.
In the Oct. 16 report, three anglers brought home more than one citation.
John Atherton of Bena, caught and released a 50-inch drum, and also a 47-inch drum, on Oct. 3, fishing in Chesapeake Bay.
Keith Nuttall of Gloucester, won two speckled trout citations: one for a 27.75-inch fish caught and released Sept. 28 in Piankatank River, and one for a 25-inch speck caught and released Sept. 14 in Ware River.
Glenn Timberlake of Port Haywood, also snagged two citations, both while fishing on Sept. 10 in Chesapeake Bay: one for a 47.5-inch red drum caught and released, and one for a 12-pound, 12-ounce sheepshead.
