During the first three months of 2025, several residents won citations from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament.
The tournament released its first report of the year last Wednesday. From now until the end of the year, updates will be posted weekly on vasaltwaterfishing.com.
Speckled trout citations have been won by Keith Nuttall of Gloucester for a 26.25-inch fish and 26-inch fish caught and released March 4 in the Rappahannock River; Davis Wilson of Saluda, 25-inch fish caught and released March 4 in the Rappahannock; William Picardat of Hayes, 6-pound, 9-ounce fish caught Feb. 10 in James River; James R. Williams of Gloucester, 6-10 fish caught Jan. 19 in the James; and Jay Brown of Hayes, 5-12 fish caught Jan. 17 in the James.
Also, Michael Jones of Gloucester qualified for a citation for his catch of a 12-pound, 3-ounce tautog on Feb. 24 in Norfolk Canyon.
