Local 4-H club members were among top winners in the EquiSmartz state 4-H horse educational contests held March 30-April 1 in Lexington.
The Saddle Smartz club senior team of Shelley Brown, Lilly Johnston, Emily Johnston and Rebecca Jenkins placed first overall and earned a bid to compete at the Southern Regional and Eastern National competitions. The club’s junior team was ninth overall. In individual competition, Brown placed first in exam, stations and judging to earn first-place overall and Lilly Johnston was fourth overall.
Among other competition highlights, the GLOCO club senior team of Megan Wilson-Bost, Olivia Wells, Monet Wilson and Anna Henderson-Cox was fourth overall and the junior team was fifth overall.
