The Friends of the Mathews Memorial Library has sponsored the installation of two Little Free Library boxes—one in front of the group’s bookstore on Maple Avenue behind the library and the other in front of the Mathews Family YMCA. These Little Free Libraries offer books free of charge for anyone who wants one. If they like, users may donate or exchange a book for the one they take. The libraries are weather-proof, free-standing blue boxes “that look like giant birdhouses,” said a press release, adding, “Please stop by and feel free to take a book.” Shown here at the Friends of the Library bookstore box is Marlene Moore.
