Linda Ann Whitemire-Ulrich, née Mote, passed away on November 16, 2023 at the age of 73 in Gloucester, Va. Linda was born on May 15, 1950 in Camden, N.J., to the late Louis G. Mote and Harriet V. Mote.
Linda was a tenderhearted, generous and kind individual. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Rich Ulrich. Linda is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Lou and Marian Mote. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda had a distinguished educational background, having attended the University of California (Berkeley) and Trenton State University. She embarked on a remarkable military career as an officer in the U.S. Navy, continuing her service as a civilian computer specialist for the U.S. Navy for many years thereafter.
Outside of her military service, Linda had a passion for various hobbies. She was an award-winning swimmer with the Junior Olympics team and a master SCUBA diver and instructor. She was also a member of Toastmasters, honing her public speaking skills. Linda was actively involved in rescuing young horses destined for slaughter and owned and managed a feed and tack store in Gloucester. Additionally, she enjoyed crafting in her spare time, a love for which stemmed from her time as an art teacher.
Linda Ann Whitmire-Ulrich’s legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. Her gentle spirit, unwavering compassion and dedication to her passions will continue to inspire and uplift those who follow in her footsteps. May she rest in eternal peace and be with the Lord.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date to honor and remember Linda’s remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the local food bank, a cause that held deep meaning to Linda.
