Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will open its 43rd season of country music shows on Saturday with an “All Star Opry” featuring the house band, Shades of Country, and all of the Opry singers.
The group will once again perform at Mathews High School’s 750-seat auditorium. Doors open at 7:30 and the show begins at 8 p.m.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under and can be purchased in advance at the Mathews Visitor and Information Center and Beach Bum BBQ in Mathews and Marketplace Antiques on Route 17 in Hayes. Tickets are also available at the door on show night.
The Li’l Ole Opry welcomes keyboardist William Earl Sadler of Mathews to the Shades of Country band. His feverish rhythmic style of playing is reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis and his piercing bluesy vocals are sure to light up the stage, a release stated.
