Wow! What a night at the 8th Annual Mathews Rotary Club’s Chili Cook-Off. Nearly 500 people, great chili and a true team effort by all five of the “competing” organizations. This annual winter event is one of the most community-oriented in Mathews County with the following civic organizations participating: Mathews Rotary Club, Mathews Historical Museum, Mathews Kiwanis Club, Bay School Community Arts Center and Mathews Land Conservancy … an all-star lineup of groups who only have helping others as their total mission. Keeping with that mission, all of the net funds raised go back in some form to help the Mathews community.
The Bay School Community Arts Center won the Judges Award and the Mathews Rotary Club won the People’s Choice Award for the Best Chili! The Best Decorated Booth Award went to the Mathews Kiwanis Club. Congratulations to all our participants as the voting was very close.
