Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I recently attended a meeting of the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission. Several other citizens of Mathews were also present. Two members of the Mathews Board of Supervisors were also in attendance, as participants of the planning commission meeting.
After about an hour or so, the citizens of Mathews attending the open forum meeting were asked to leave. The remainder of the meeting was conducted behind closed doors.
That elected representatives chose to exclude the electorate in what was scheduled as an open meeting poses a question: Were all of the members of the planning district commission elected by the people? If not, might one ask, just who is doing the planning and by what criteria and whose agenda?
