To piggyback off the letter Joe Diggs placed in the July 20 Gazette-Journal, like Mr. Diggs, I urge the citizens to do their research carefully. I have no official connection with the Mathews Citizens for the Common Good.
Hyperbolic comments made recently about this group and its supporters have compared this to being communists, Marxists, anti-American, and other terrible name-calling. It was even suggested that this organization is attempting to buy and steal a local election. We are better than this.
I have known the honorary chairwoman, Rosalyn Hudgins “Roz” White, for the better part of 30 years. I also knew her late husband, Jeff, before he passed away in 2012. Roz grew up in Port Haywood and her mother and father ran a country store and served as postmaster there. Her uncle ran a store in New Point. Jeff was a childhood friend of my maternal grandfather when they grew up together in Mobjack on White’s Neck Drive. He used to talk about how the two of them...
