On behalf of the Board of Directors of the GUEST Shelter, a faith-based organization, we want to publicly extend our gratitude to the Mathews-Gloucester community for the care provided this winter season. While GUEST services at the day shelter are year-round, night shelter ends March 31. For the first time since COVID, the night shelter returned to the original vision of church congregations taking turns throughout the winter to host people without housing during night hours. Please know that you have made a difference in assuring that those in need had a warm place to sleep and received both supper and breakfast meals.
Since January, this program has served 43 individuals. There are a variety of situations why people are homeless and in need of shelter. Some live without electricity/water in a space not meant to be a home. Some are disabled and do not have resources to maintain housing.
