Letter: Voting—First things first

Education—much unfinished business:
The National Assessment of Educational Progress documents significant learning setbacks in performance of Virginia students, especially in government schools during Covid. Our governor has asked funding for extending reading specialists into fifth grade. There have also been requests for additional retention and performance-based bonuses for teachers. But, too much reform and forward progress have been stymied by Democrats hammerlock on the Virginia Senate. Teachers and parents working in tandem can advance government schools education performance only with the removal of Democrats in the Senate. The classroom is for education, not indoctrination. Every minute lost to education is lost forever, putting students behind peers that had 100 percent focus on education. This puts their future performance at risk. Unacceptable. Mama Bears and teachers need freedom to maintain 100 percent focus on true educational curricula. Not ther...
