Who to vote for Congress? Rob Wittman, the incumbent, or his opponent, Leslie Mehta? I’ve met Wittman often over the years and know his record. I’ve not met Mehta, so I looked up her website and to be fair, Wittman’s also. Comparing these two sources, what do I learn?
First, I learned of the Mehta family’s loss of their young daughter from Rett Syndrome. I can’t imagine the heartbreak involved and feel great sympathy for their loss and the long trials they endured. Tragedy, while it may be a motivation, is not a qualification. Her site lists her priorities: Healthcare for Everyone, Public School Funding, Reproductive Freedom, Gun Safety Laws, Addressing Climate Change, Economy that Works for Everyone, Protecting Democracy, Fairness and Opportunity for All.
As an incumbent, Wittman’s site has more information—committees and caucuses, legislation status, etc., but also lists his priorities (14) including many of Mehta’s; Jobs & Economy, Second Amendment, Educ...
