Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I am writing to thank all the volunteer firefighters who worked so heroically to the point of exhaustion to put out the fire in the Starvation Road area during the day and night on Saturday, Feb. 19, and early Sunday morning, Feb. 20. With high, gusting winds and difficult terrain working against them, they truly performed a miracle and stopped the fire in the woods approximately 200 yards from the driveway entrance to my property. Even in extremely difficult circumstances, they managed to be professional, helpful, friendly and cheerful!
In addition, I would like to thank the Gloucester Sheriff’s Department for the professional, efficient and courteous manner in which they evacuated us to safety from our homes.
Thanks also go to Gloucester Emergency Services and the Red Cross for their help and very caring and professional attitude during this crisis.
It is reassuring and comforting to know that we have such wonderful resources and caring people...
