Trump has signed an Executive Order to dismantle the Department of Education. This is his attempt to cut waste and restructure our education system. DOE was created in 1978 and for 45 years it has failed our children.
DOE has spent $3 trillion of our tax dollars and has little to show for its effort. U.S. students rank lower than before it was created. We are behind most industrialized countries, despite the highest per-student spending. Since 1979 student achievement has dropped. Less than 32 percent of our students are proficient in reading and less than 31 percent are proficient in math.
Although everyone hates seeing people lose their jobs, sometimes it is necessary. We don’t need $3 trillion wasted on bureaucrats, teachers’ unions, and Critical Race Theory. It is time to cut out the middleman. States are perfectly capable of taking care of our children’s education.
