The Ukraine situation is getting interesting. It seems there are three options:
—Give Ukraine enough weapons and support to actually defeat Russia. This would involve nukes and powerful offensive weapons. No one, not even Biden’s handlers, seemed to think this was a good idea.
—Give Ukraine just enough money and defensive weapons to hold off Russia. This has been the strategy so far. A million young soldiers from both sides have been killed or wounded. No exit strategy exists.
—Negotiate a peace deal.
The hope with option 2 is that Russia will eventually go bankrupt or Putin will be deposed from within. Neither of these seems likely and neither is predictable at all.
To claim you stand with Ukraine, but be ok with watching them lose tens of thousands of their citizens each year, seems disingenuous. Seven million Ukrain-ians have already left the country.
