Letter: The Bookers’ hope

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Two interesting letters recently (Mrs. Joseph on August 15 and Mrs. Crittenden on September 5), critical of Gloucester’s board of supervisors for deciding not to fund a study of future Fire and Rescue needs. This all stems from Gloucester Fire and Rescue’s purchasing of the former Booker property to build a new station.
In both letters both ladies were very complimentary of all the services our two departments provide for Gloucester’s citizens. That was good to hear.
These two ladies, especially Mrs. Joseph, have done many things to enhance the arts and our Main Street small businesses. Their contributions are greatly appreciated.
What’s not being mentioned is that the Booker family wanted to sell their property to Gloucester Fire and Rescue. That decision should be respected. The Booker family goes way back in our Court House history. Only Roane Booker and Al’s wife Janice remain. Hopefully they can see this taking place in the future.
