Mathews has recently lost a faithful and caring friend, a “come here” who loved this county and contributed to the fabric of this community by volunteering in as many ways that he could.
“Grandpa Mike” Beavers loved the Mathews High School volleyball team; attending game after game. He volunteered at the elementary school; reading and singing to our youngest learners. He often attended school board meetings offering thoughts and sage advice about our schools. He loved the children of Mathews and demonstrated this by contributing to their educational activities.
As the kindergarten teacher, Amy Ashberry said in her Facebook post, “He was so full of wisdom, love, kindness, humor, encouragement, and joy. If you were blessed to know him, you know he was one of a kind.”
Thank you, Grandpa Mike, for choosing Mathews!
