Letter: Take action against gun violence

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
The mass shooting at a rural high school in Perry, Iowa compels me to solicit readers of this letter to do something or take action to eliminate a minimum of at least one death by gun violence in 2024. This can be done by individual involvement and /or soliciting our government representatives to implement common sense regulations that most citizens agree with.
In 2023, the Gun Violence Archives reported that there were 18,886 non suicidal gun deaths in the US and 697 mass shootings!
For your consideration I support legislation for: 1) Increased mental health funding, 2) Required background checks for private and gun show sales, and 3) The creation of “Red Flag” legislation.
