Editor, Gazette-Journal:
This letter is written in response to the last meeting of the Mathews County School Board on Jan. 16 and the issue of graffiti on the bathroom wall.
I did not feel concern for safety.
I felt hostility.
I felt agitated people out to get revenge or retaliation.
Let’s jump to conclusions.
Let’s point fingers.
Let’s find one thing that the school board didn’t do, instead of asking what they are doing.
Let’s prosecute to the full extent of the law.
I did not see, let’s find out who this person is and get them help … much needed help, mental and emotional.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, the NAACP in Mathews County is an instigator and agitator. In my opinion, they don’t believe in equality or freedom. “Change the name of the school, tear down that horrible flag, even if it is someone else’s heritage, tear down that monument, destroying history. Put up markers focusing on ‘sins of the Father.’” Very few people in Mathews County want to read about lynchings in the past....
