I’d like to thank our great Gloucester community for the generous assistance it has given in past years to The American Legion Auxiliary’s Virginia Girls State program.
Many young ladies from Gloucester High School have benefited from this non-partisan program and have enjoyed it. As a nonprofit, the Auxiliary has to raise $535 per girl. We do this in several ways, including accepting donations from community individuals, businesses, churches and other organizations.
Girls State was organized in 1937 and since then has been teaching young women responsible, patriotic citizenship and love of God and Country. Over a million girls have attended; many become active in local and federal government.
Gloucester Auxiliary Unit 75 wants to give as many young women as possible the chance to attend this year’s event. To do that, we need donations of any size.
