When individuals in our community are confronted each and every day with conditions that affect their family life, their ability to work and their capacity to enjoy even the most routine activity, where can they turn?
Fortunately (what many may not realize), there is a partnership that is helping improve the quality of lives in our community. That partnership is between the Mathews Family YMCA and Sentara Mathews Physical Therapy.
I never wanted to be so knowledgeable about physical therapy and rehabilitation, but I have always been an avid sportswoman and recreational athlete. Throughout my life, I have benefitted from many YMCA programs. Two of my children introduced me to the world of rehabilitation by spending months at Children’s Hospital of Richmond as they received therapy. After that, I spent years as a volunteer in their therapy department.
