The letter by Max Parker appearing in the July 14 edition of the Gazette-Journal was a true gem of a cruising tale for local waters. The potential of Put-In Creek, Mathews Court House, as a cruising destination portends great promise. Mobjack Bay and its numerous tributaries present an unparalled opportunity for a variety of recreational boating activities for both power and sail alike. The once abundant Chesapeake Bay fishing industry of Mathews would complement those who simply enjoy a day out on the water in the quest for one or more of our local fisheries.
Mr. Parker’s enthusiastic endorsement of Put-In Creek and Mathews as a cruising destination or stop-over is reminiscent of Mr. Wayne Hudgins and his advocacy of developing this area of Put-In Creek as a tourist attraction for boaters throughout the Chesapeake.
