The follies of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are beginning to be seriously discussed. We might be tempted to leave this to West Coast technocrats and D.C. politicians—after all, only they are the ones who can attempt to regulate it. Why waste the ink in our hometown paper on something we have minimal influence or control over?
AI is going to challenge every one of us, individually and corporately. We’re entering an era where truth, integrity, and authenticity are about to become the gold standard of social currency. And I believe that small-town communities like Gloucester and Mathews are experts in promoting this type of civic cohesion.
We build up this social currency by promoting healthy communities. We recognize our interdependence and intentionally support one another in the face of adversity and disagreement.
