“When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One,” Donald Trump stated in August 2024. He then repeated this promise many times on the campaign trail.
Trump has certainly been busy since he took office, but prices have not fallen; in fact, they’ve gone up on eggs, beef, coffee, butter, gas, medicine and medical devices, used cars and car insurance, just to name a few. When the tariffs take full effect, we can expect to see prices rise even more.
Promises made, promises broken.
