Letter: Pretty impressive

The United Methodist Men of Bethany United Methodist Church meets monthly at Nick’s Restaurant at Gloucester Point. We have very interesting great speakers and our meeting on March 25 was certainly one of those. We were delighted to welcome Leonne Arsenovic, chair of the Gloucester County School Board, and Dr. Anthony Vladu, Superintendent of Schools in Gloucester.
Using visual aids, they showed and explained a number of statistical graphs depicting school enrollment, attendance, student performance, costs and their proposed 2026 budget. It was quite enlightening and they also answered our many questions.
Our take-away was that these people are doing a great job running our schools. For example, GCPS performed better than 83 percent of school divisions in Virginia in SOL testing, state ranking improved from 32nd to 22nd, the highest state ranking in 18 years, GCPS ranked second in the region for overall math, science and history scores, third for English, fifth...
