I have really enjoyed the recent Readers’ Special column—"Santa was a hobo" by Kitty Moore and "The evolution of Santa Claus" by Elaine White. This was a very informative story about St. Nicholas of 4th century Turkey through the Santa Claus of today.
I also enjoy the Days Past page, Virginia Day-By-Day (some history tidbits by Michael Gleason of Gwynn’s Island); Glimpses Into The Past (beginning 100 years ago), where I often see a few names or events that I remember or have heard about. The book review column is informative too.
After seeing the picture of Gwynn’s Island residents Gail and George Benoits’ Christmas Dickens Village, I called to ask if we could bring our 5-year-old granddaughter, Adelle, to see it.
