The citizens should raise this question with their supervisors: Why does the Virginia Department of Transportation only bring forth an annual plan for the county’s six-year plan for secondary roads? When was the last time a discussion was held on the future planning and development of our primary road system for the county, and where should they be built?
Gloucester County is the only locality left with sufficient open landmasses in the region for development and housing market expansion. Therefore, the time is now for the discussions to begin as to where these primary highways will be constructed or widened to handle traffic in excess of 50,000 vehicles per day. The past action of "destroy and build" is not the road to modern development in the best interest of the land or homeowners.
