Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I appreciate the review provided by Michael Beavers in last week’s paper (“Thoughts on recent letters,” June 22 Readers Write). Mr. Beavers’ opinions are relevant to the myriad issues confronting the citizens of Mathews and Gloucester, if not the nation. However, I must take exception to the relevance that he made involving government consolidation of power and the distribution of that power with that of state governments attacking voting rights, the LGBTQ community and reproductive rights. I fail to make the connection.
As to substantiating my arguments, might I make reference to the various and sundry news stories appearing daily involving corruption within the administration and government. I simply cite the misdeeds of members of the First Family. I caution against the relevance of the political with that of the military. The military must and should strive to be apolitical, avoiding inclusion in party politics.
