Letter: No longer leader of the free world

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I come from a military family. My grandfather received the Distinguished Service Cross in WWI; my father was decorated for 6 years in the army serving in North Africa, Sicily and Italy during WWII; my uncle was killed in the Alps during the cold war with Russia; several cousins served in Vietnam, and both of my children served during the Iraq War.
This blood and sweat given by so many cannot be allowed to be spoiled by Trump, the buffoon who according to John Kelly, his longest serving Chief of Staff, would not visit the graves of fallen World War I veterans because they are “suckers and losers.”
America is no longer the leader of the free world! Think about that. Trump, who dodged the draft five times, is attempting to turn America’s back on our closest allies. Canadians were in the trenches with us, had our backs in all the major wars, and were one of the first to help after 9/11, as were the Europeans.
