With Mathews receiving a new designation by the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission and others as the new epicenter of the Chesapeake Bay watershed (which includes at least five states), it is critical that all data presented in reports on our behalf is absolutely accurate. Decisions and regulations are being prepared with this data for the benefit of the county residents and businesses, as well as the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
Sadly, the regional reports funded by tens of thousands of grant dollars (from your taxes) and prepared by the MPPDC and its director Lewie Lawrence have all been laden with errors, starting with the TMDL Septic System Study, the William and Mary Ditch Report (at $40,000), the All Hazard Mitigation Report and now this Water Resource Management Plan mandated by the state. The abundant errors regarding Mathews County and brought forward over decades is shocking, beginning with designating the wrong aquifer to supply our water...
