For me, it all comes down to January 6, 2021.
It started earlier, of course, with Donald Trump’s claim that the 2020 Presidential election had been stolen from him. He was lying. Evidence spread over more than 60 legal complaints shows he lost the election. But even today he lies about it.
Then came January 6 and the insurrection. I watched it online in real time, along with millions of people across the nation, across the whole world. It was violent, there was a gallows, police were attacked, and people died. And it was all for Trump, all because of Trump, all because of Trump’s lies.
All because Trump wouldn’t admit he had lost the election.
And out of that big lie came another lie, the lie that says there was no insurrection, just a peaceful protest, and that all those people convicted of the crimes they committed as part of the insurrection were just peaceful protesters.
