We are writing to express our support for Ray Hunley and Wendy Stewart. As employees of these two constitutional offices, we feel that a "change or breath of fresh air" would bring disruption and uncertainty to the citizens of Mathews. The knowledge required to run these offices isn’t acquired overnight and takes years to learn. For the job of commissioner, being a CPA and constructing buildings doesn’t qualify you, nor does working in the county’s accounts payable office, where dropping checks off to be signed, doesn’t give you the knowledge of working in the treasurer’s office.
The Commissioner of the Revenue’s office is already preparing for a change with the retirement of the chief deputy commissioner after working in the office for 30 years. When she leaves, she takes the knowledge and experience with her. This knowledge will not be replaced overnight or even in years.
