I am writing in support of the nomination of Gwynn’s Island as another Historic District in Mathews County.
My husband and I have been preservationists throughout our lengthy careers in real estate. As homeowners on Gwynn’s Island, we are thrilled that Gwynn’s Island will be listed in the State and National Historic Registers.
There has been a great deal of research done by the Department of Historic Resources in support of this nomination that documents the historic significance of Gwynn’s Island, as well as its architectural, cultural and archaeological factors.
It is time for the sensible and professional majority to proceed, rather than be disrupted by a tiny minority of ill-informed residents.
I fully support the Department of Historic Resources in their endeavor to preserve our past.
