I want to address a few issues raised by Mr. Brooks’s recent letter to the editor (“The chosen ones,” July 6 Readers Write).
The Mathews Citizens for the Common Good are (sic) not at it again. The organization was created recently to promote the candidacy of BOS and school board aspirants who we believe will do the best job for the county and citizens of Mathews. There is nothing in the “movement” that has any relationship to Marxism.
Individuals aligned with the Mathews Citizens are of all political persuasions. Party affiliation is not a consideration. While some of the individuals involved may have supported the removal of the Confederate statue, by no means did all support that position.
Mr. Brooks seems to believe that “liberals” have done the United States of America a disservice since 2020. Mr. Brooks does not provide any examples of the disservice to which he refers, however. I would refer Mr. Brooks to the several significant advances the current admin...
