Letter: I don’t get it

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I don’t get it. Why should the federal government be immune from audit and review? Why are so many Democrats screaming about the actions undertaken by the Trump administration? Shouldn’t the duly elected Chief Executive/President of this country be able to conduct what any other president or CEO of a public or private company would consider a normal, no—required—business best practice? When did federal jobs become tenured positions? As taxpayers, we should applaud the effort, the shift towards fiscal accountability.
Wasn’t it Hamilton who argued for an “energetic and decisive” Chief Executive? Well, we have one … finally. Someone willing to look under the rocks and dig in the muck created by a political party that thinks they know better … that their values, cultural norms, and opinions are more important than ours … that big government is the answer. Ironically, Hamilton would be considered a Democrat today.
