The first part of my career as an attorney was spent in the City of Norfolk. In that city, they had a police department and a sheriff’s department. Each department’s jobs did not overlap. Both did effective work in their field of responsibility. For the past 12 years, my practice has been in Mathews County, where these two areas are combined in the office of sheriff. The job of the police and the job of the sheriff are quite different. We need a person with experience in the two fields.

Therefore, I highly recommend that we reelect Danny Howlett as Sheriff of Mathews County. He has done a very good job in both law enforcement and sheriff’s duties, especially in light of the budget restraints. My personal experience with Sheriff Howlett has been very positive and I urge the citizens of Mathews County to reelect him as our sheriff.
