Letter: Hope this type of concert will be repeated

“A Celebration of British Music” was held at Kingston Parish Episcopal Chapel last Sunday afternoon, featuring three local organists, a 30-voice volunteer choir, and a surprise performance by Lynda Smith, singing a moving rendition of “Danny Boy (Londonderry Air).” The concert attracted almost 150 people, coming not only from Mathews and Gloucester but from Williamsburg and the Northern Neck as well. Their enthusiastic applause after each piece was an indication of the program’s success. The program offered a balance of both secular and sacred music used at many British ceremonial events, coronations, weddings and funerals.
I am so grateful to the super-talented organists—Dr. Danny Corneliussen, Libby Boyer and the Rev. Coleman Tyler, who presented an exciting and beautiful program. It was amazing.
