Letter: Hope and unity

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Since people have asked “What has Harris done to earn election as president?” I submit these as a few of her accomplishments:
VP Kamala Harris has consistently pushed for voting rights. She urged Congress to pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act which, unfortunately, was shot down by Republicans.
VP Harris is a champion for reproductive rights. She was the first vice president to communicate with health care providers and medical staff as part of her nationwide “fight for reproductive freedoms” tour. VP Harris’s work on maternal and infant health care was a key component of the Build Back Better Act passed by the House of Representatives in 2022, which extended access to maternal care and strove to drive down infant mortality rates.
VP Harris oversaw the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which included the signing of the bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
