My conservative friends think I am liberal, and my liberal friends think I am conservative, but I am independent. Did you know that 51 percent of Americans identify as such?
Yet, many people are afraid to vote for an independent candidate—we are conditioned to believe it is Trump or Harris. Many are unhappy with these options yet declare they will vote for the “lesser of two evils.” A third-party candidate doesn’t register as a viable option because they fear a “wasted vote.”
Regardless of how you identify, it’s clear that America’s current political landscape has become polluted with unprecedented polarization. Instead of leading the people, politicians fan the flames of division and create a dramatic spectacle fit for a reality TV show.
A politician is supposed to serve the people, not just cater to the people of their party and “other” the rest. We must heal the divide; this is why I intend to vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
