Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I refer to Ms. Joseph’s August 15th Letter to the Editor. I believe the Citizens of Gloucester would appreciate an explanation from the Board of Supervisors to answer the question, “Why not complete a professional independent study to determine the most appropriate location and best available equipment for a proposed new Fire Department facility?” The County Administrator recommended an independent review, as a sensible step, in the RFP process, but the recommendation was overruled by the supervisors. “Why?”
I recall vividly creative “Axe the Tax” signs on Main Street when Gloucester citizens overwhelming defeated, at the ballot box, a proposed County referendum to issue a capital bond which included an allocation to pay for a proposed new fire station.
