There seems to be a mood for change which may be fueled by the general discontent of our elected officials. In some cases that may be justified, but not in all. Take for example the office of Mathews Commonwealth’s Attorney. We are being asked to chose between two candidates, both good men, both qualified attorneys, but one with 20 years of experience as our Commonwealth’s Attorney, the other with several years’ experience as a Commonwealth Attorney in another county many years ago.
Now we must ask is there a reason for change, a reason to bring a new man into the office. One who has not been a Commonwealth’s Attorney for 19 years, one who has not operated in our courts, one who has not prosecuted a single case on behalf of Mathews, one who has not been involved with the Middle Peninsula Drug Task Force, one who has not worked with the victim/witness protection program, and has no experience with our child abuse and domestic violen...
