Letter: Doing nothing to stop it

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Congressional Republicans, are you watching the destruction of U.S. Department of Agriculture, which will likely cause food prices to go up, and saying nothing to stop it?
Republican-imposed influences on farm success are on fire. Avenues for farm product sales decreasing, farming expenses increasing, financing more difficult to get, funding and support from the federal government cut or reduced, weather information is being discontinued, ignoring climate change, water more scarce, and farm labor is being deported.
Farmers across the United States are finding themselves in precarious economic positions, as they attempt to navigate a strained farm economy, while a barrage of Trump Administration executive orders put farm programs in limbo.
When Republicans are shutting USAID, they also are shutting a large farm product sales market.
Republicans have frozen USDA-agreed farm support.
Republicans are deporting existing farm labor.
